What a hoot we all had on 1st November at our
Sopwith Halloween Family Fun Day! 🎃
This annual event raised a spooktastic £911 to support the charity’s vital work - and brought smiles to families across the community.
Under a bright autumn sun and the shimmer of a rainbow, families flocked to the Centre for this year’s Sopwith Halloween Family Fun Day, filling the grounds with laughter and excitement.
Using the beautiful surroundings of the Centre and its diverse nature, families set off along the all-weather track to seek out spooky-themed items before heading indoors to enjoy games and craft activities, including conker comets, Halloween paintings and cookie decorating.
Fabulous homemade treats and spicy pumpkin soup provided a much-needed recharge before visitors headed off to meet our magical ponies.
No Halloween event would be complete without the hoot of an owl or two, and we were delighted to be joined by John, The Owl Man, who brought along three majestic owls and his very cuddly skunk, Chrissie.
This fangtastic event not only raised valuable funds for the Centre but also gave both regular participants and new families the chance to meet the ponies and learn more about the inclusive and life-changing work we do.
Entitled the Sopwith Halloween Family Fun Day, the annual event honours the Centre’s founder, Anne Sopwith, who established this magical place 43 years ago to support people with disabilities and additional needs through the therapeutic power of horses.
Her daughter, Catherine Duff, who organised the event, the activities, and the catering said: “What a fabulous day of autumnal fun it was! This event was all about creating a really exciting, affordable day out for families but also for them to see, first-hand, what we do here and what is on offer at the Centre. We were delighted to see so many familiar faces and some new ones. BUT, best of all, is seeing the delight and smiles on so many children’s faces. It was a fantastic event.”
One delighted parent commented: “Thank you so much for the wonderful Halloween event today. It was tremendous value for money, with so much to see and do.”
A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers, staff, trustees, and supporters for making the day such a success. Special photo credit to volunteer, Sara Bishop, and parent, Amy, for taking the fabulous photos.
