Celebrating our Award Winners 2025
At this year’s Christmas Fair, Clwyd Special Riding Centre proudly celebrated the incredible achievements of four of our members, and the awards they had so deservedly received…
Riding for the Disabled Awards:
Both Pam Jones and Gerry Green (pictured top left) were recently presented with the RDA’s prestigious President’s Award – by HRH The Princess Royal. This award is the pinnacle of volunteer recognition by the RDA, reserved for individuals who have displayed extraordinary dedication and service for a period spanning three decades or more. (Gerry: 33 years. Pam: 44 years).
Steve Wainwright (pictured middle) was nominated for the RDA Birt Spooner Cup Award - Honouring Remarkable Contributions to the RDA and Para-equestrianism. For many years, Steve has been a valuable volunteer to Clwyd Special Riding Centre, to the Hope Mountain RDA Group, the Clwyd RDA Group, and previously the Wrexham and Dyffryn Ceiriog RDA Groups. He’s also very happy to help out maintaining the Centre, with maintenance volunteers, Jim and Graham.
To have three volunteers from the same Centre recognised by the RDA in this way, is exceptional.
Flintshire Local Voluntary Council Awards:
Katy Cowan was nominated for the Flintshire Local Voluntary Council Young Volunteer of the Year Award. Since joining us in 2023, Katy has gone from volunteering one morning a week to becoming a full-time groom at Clwyd Special Riding Centre. Her dedication, compassion, and incredible growth inspire us all - we are so proud of her! Read her full story.
British Horse Society Awards:
Brooke Fairhill – You may recognise Brooke from the videos on our website. Brooke is one of our Changing Lives through Horses participants, who recently received the British Horse Society Changing Lives through Horses ‘Pamela Almond Achieve Award’ in recognition of the amazing progress she has made since joining the programme here. Watch Brooke’s video.
Congratulations to you all!
