All our RDA riding and carriage driving sessions run during the Flintshire school term time. Our mechanical horse, hippotherapy, some private riding sessions, and equine assisted well-being sessions run throughout the year.
Whilst these are our core set of activities, we would love to hear from you if you are looking for something different, either as a one-off activity or for a group. Prices correct as at September 2023.
We offer riding sessions for groups and individuals from the age of five. In our sessions, the horse provides a focus for a wide range of physical activities, and educational activities that help to build skills in literacy, numeracy and communication.
Held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays – all daytime and into the evening on a Wednesday. Sessions last 40 minutes (to include mounting and dismounting) and cost £20 per session.
Private sessions are available by arrangement and cost £30 per 30-minute session.
Especially adapted carriages make carriage driving accessible to wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. The exhilarating feeling of movement provided by carriage driving is both therapeutic and a great sport. Our 2km all-weather track offers a unique driving experience around our peaceful setting.
Carriage Driving sessions run every Monday and cost £20 for 40 minutes (to include mounting and dismounting). Update - August 2023: Carriage Driving sessions are currently paused until 2024 while we train new coaches to lead on this activity. Please do still get in touch if you are interested in becoming a participant or volunteer.
Our CELT building is home to our fully simulated mechanical horse and classroom environment. Equine assisted learning and therapy sessions are delivered through horse focused educational activities, either in the classroom or working alongside horses from the ground. Sessions are designed to help develop self-awareness, confidence, communication, team skills and build literacy/numeracy skills.
These sessions can sometimes be offered as a pathway towards riding sessions.
Our state-of-the-art fully simulated mechanical horse with interactive screen offers an alternative riding experience that helps to build core strength and improve balance and posture. With its interactive screen you can choose to ride along the beach, go cross country or hone your dressage skills.
Sessions available to RDA and CELT participants.
Every Monday. £30 per 30 min session.
Alternative days and private hire available by prior arrangement.
Hippotherapy is physiotherapy on horseback. This specialist physiotherapy utilises the specific movements of a horse to provide rehabilitation to a wide range of both adult and paediatric neurological and complex conditions. It is also proven to improve motor, sensory and language skills.
Our Hippotherapy sessions run every Friday in partnership with Spirit Hippotherapy and can also be offered to participants under the age of five if suitable.
Riding session: £30 for a 30-minute session with a qualified physiotherapist.
Mechanical Horse: £35 for a 30-minute session with a qualified physiotherapist. Every Friday.
